At the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, I collaborated with Dr. Rafael Martin-Domenech to complete successful laboratory astrophysics and astrochemistry research.
I studied the formation rate of complex organic molecules, (the building blocks of amino acids and proteins) around young and developing exoplanetary systems. Our results suggest that complex organic molecules are able to form around a large percentage of young stars and baby planets, and we notably demonstrate that diatomic hydrogen gas is much more important in the molecular astrochemistry than previously thought.
